SERV is Hiring an Assistant General Manager (AGM) Near Overland Park, KS

SERV is an exciting entertainment venue located in Overland Park! Looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager with typical daily venue operations. Assistant General Manager would be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives. AGM would also competently perform duties in the absence of the GM.

Success in this role requires continued education and training. AGM would positively influence staff, particularly during high volume peak times and pressure situations. Candidates would possess strong leadership and organizational skills, firm but also accessible and available.

Responsibilities:

· Cooperating with the General Manager and assisting with anything from day to day operations, staff management. Focus areas include but are not limited to:

  • food/beverage
  • pickleball reservations and play
  • yard games
  • customer interactions
  • cleanliness and orderly operations
  • oversee team leads at food concept level, bar manager, pickleball manager, marketing coordinator, custodial services team

Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs

  • Guarantee that all financials (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Create positive working relationships with staff
  • Delegating daily tasks
  • Addressing any issues quickly
  • Overseeing staff and guest relations
  • Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed
  • Knowledgeable of food costs, labor costs, reporting and analytics, Toast POS system
  • Setting a good example for staff
  • Step in for General Manager when needed

Food Safety and Planning

· Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, training, and maintaining food temperature practices and logs, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen, equipment, and dining areas

· Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances

· Ensure consistent high quality of food preparation and service. Also maintain order times (start time from order to served)

· Maintain professional image, including venue wide tidiness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards

· Estimate and be knowledgeable of food and beverage costs utilizing Toast system

· Work with management staff for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies

· Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste

· Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies

· Must be ServSafe Manager certified and uphold all ServSafe guidelines

Liquor Safety and Planning

· Team up with Bar leads to practice responsible liquor service protocols:

  • checking IDs
  • care taken with overserving
  • plans in place for ride share services
  • strategies to assist customers who may be involved in unsafe situations

Guest Service

· Ensure positive guest service in all areas

· Respond to complaints, taking appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return customers

· Create mediums to gather input from customer experiences

Operational Responsibilities

· Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests, and company assets

· Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents

· Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured

· Manage shifts which include daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness

· Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service

· Understand and ensure that business compliance requirements are documented and met

Personnel

· Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.

· Interview salary and hourly employees

· Responsible for scouting, interviewing and direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.

· Conduct orientations, explain the SERV Ethos, and oversee the training of new and training continuance for seasoned employees

· Develop employees by providing constructive feedback to foster employee growth, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews. Overall goal is retention and promotion from within for those that work hard and earn it

· Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed properly for all shifts

Requirements:

  • Strong background and previous experience in food operations
  • College degree preferred, education and experience will also be considered
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills regarding interactions with customers and employees
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Keen observation skills
  • Provide kudos to employees
  • An ability to deliver constructive criticism
  • Computer literate (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Software literate (many processes are automated)
  • An ability to identify weaknesses and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Knowledgeable of Toast POS system
  • Ability to comprehend reports and metrics
