Responsibilities :
- Build and maintain relationships with nurses, physicians, and caregivers
- Manage incoming phone calls and emails
- De-escalate and troubleshoot issues for customers
- Accurately and efficiently enter new or refill orders
- Adjudicate insurance claims and resolve rejections
- Properly handle order exceptions such as refill-too-soon, invalid orders, etc.
- Communicate effectively with leadership and peers
- Achieve or exceed productivity standards in a fast-paced environment
- Work with prescribers to clarify prescriptions and obtain refill approvals
Requirements :
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to operate personal computers and / or computer terminals.
- Skilled in performing detailed work.
- Ability to recognize and identify patient medications.
- Minimum one year experience in a retail or long-term care pharmacy
- Minimum one year experience with prescription order entry and prescription adjudication in any pharmacy setting and problem-solving; 2 years preferred
- Must possess a Iowa Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration or be willing to apply
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
- Positive personality who easily builds rapport through the phone / email
- Proficient typing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Can meet order deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Understands basic pharmacy language to interpret prescriptions
- Can perform pharmacy calculations
