Workdays: Sunday - Thursday
Works Hours: 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Location: 1115 Mission Rd., San Antonio, TX. 78210

Mission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.

Summary:

The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shelter environment. Observe all agency policies and procedures and monitor implementation of procedures by direct care staff within a trauma-informed lens.

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Provide direct supervision to assigned shift managers. Provide feedback, evaluation, motivation and direction to staff.
  • *Acts as role model for professional behaviors, attitudes, social skills and self-care.
  • *Ensure shift schedules and staff assignments are meeting ratio, appointments and planned activities at least 24 hours in advance.
  • *Schedule and conduct 1:1 meetings on a monthly basis with direct reports. 
  • *Must be available to come in on weekend or after hours based on agency’s needs.
  • *Conduct walkthrough of grounds, Cottage A, B, and C common areas, resident’s rooms, and pantry, utility closets to ensure cleanliness, organizations and safety is being met. Ensures non-compliant or safety hazards are immediately corrected.
  • *Monitor the proper dispensing of medications, verifying of medication on all shifts; oversee the daily medication audit to ensure accuracy. 
  • Facilitate monthly team meetings to include team-building activities.
  • *First point of contact in responding to ORR placement requests.
  • Monitor the completion of the intake and discharge process of the residents in program, review documentation to ensure compliance with all required fields.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Senior Director or Vice President.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: 
  • Directly supervises Residential Shift Team Lead and provides verbal and written feedback for the purpose of staff development and/or disciplinary actions. Ensures staff use appropriate trauma informed practices, develop appropriate relationships with clients, maintain boundaries and ensure consequences are fair, firm and consistent. The shelter supervisor is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities assigned as long as such action does not deviate from established organizational policies and is consistent with program guidelines and sound professional judgement.
  • Critical Action Items: 
  • The Shelter Supervisor under the general direction of the Program Director (or designee), assists the Program Director in establishing and directing overall operation of facility’s programs which promote best practices and facilitate the optimum delivery of quality social services to residents. This position is also responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels at the facility to ensure each child’s physical, social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs are met.

At Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with or without notice, Seton Home may require employees to alter their work schedules to fulfill job responsibilities or handle work situations of an emergency nature. Likewise, at Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with written approval of the Department Head of Human Resources and Executive Director, employees may arrange an alternate or flexible work schedule, provided Seton Home needs can be fully met under such an arrangement.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Education
    • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. 
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2-year management and/or supervisory experience. 
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license
    • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Must provide immunization/shot records.
  • Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening.
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities.

Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children.

  • Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
  • MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases
  • DTaP or DTap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one DTaP dose in adulthood.
  • Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 2-year management and/or supervisory experience. 
  • Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement- Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services National Care Standards.
  • Experience with computer software, familiarity with or ability to utilize KaleidaCare and MS Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive).
  • A solid grasp of progressive management strategies.
  • Possess knowledge and proficiency in Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior techniques.
  • Training and/or experience in direct service delivery, supervisory management skills.
  • Ensure Shift Managers have completed supervisory TPCN tasks are completed daily.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.
