JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Affairs, the Director of Title IX Compliance serves the University by directing an institutional comprehensive compliance program, assessing Title IX legislation, regulations, and case law, overseeing all aspects of reports, developing initiatives, delivering education and training offerings, and coordinating awareness of gender equity and sex discrimination across the university.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Executive Director of Student Affairs
Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:
  • Ensure the university is in compliance with Title IX legislation, regulation, and case law and maintain appropriate documentation to demonstrate Title IX Compliance.
  • Oversee all aspects of the reporting process including but not limited to intake, supportive measures, investigations (formal and informal), decisions, appeals, etc.
  • Oversee and execute, in a timely manner, the university's response and investigation to alleged violations of Title IX, including but not limited to the university Sexual Misconduct Policy and Resolution Process.
  • Plan investigation processes, conduct interviews, identify, and collect relevant documentation, analyze evidence and work with the appropriate university offices in the course of investigations.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough investigatory files and reports through an online case management system.
  • Consult/collaborate with legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Lead and develop university-wide education and outreach related to sexual misconduct, including prevention and bystander programs for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide training, informational materials and consultation to faculty and staff connected with the University's commitment to provide a safe, healthy working and learning environment for all, as well as developing, updating and communicating Title IX-related university policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other relevant campus departments/units to develop and conduct prevention of sexual harassment/sexual violence training and other Title IX related presentations.
  • Oversee the department's assessment plan.
  • Oversee Title IX officers including annual training requirements.
  • Collaborate with various offices across campus to enhance student experience.
  • Oversee/manage the Title IX annual budget.
  • Assist Safety & Security in providing and reviewing annual statistical reports and CLERY Compliance.
  • Serve on assigned committees.
  • Perform all additional duties assigned.
EDUCATION
Required Education:
Bachelor's in education or other compliance administration related field or actively pursuing a master's degree.
Preferred Education:
  • Master's degree in a related field or actively pursuing a master's degree.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Minimum of 3-5 experience in the field of higher education with exposure to the
field of Title IX, student affairs and/or student development.
Preferred:
  • Three to five years higher education experience.
  • Three years' experience in employee relations, conduct or compliance administration, investigative work, complaint resolution or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed.
  • Experience writing reports, summaries, documentation and/or proposals based on institution wide conversations and multiple-sourced inputs.
  • Work experience in educational programs and presentations, managing projects, oversight and management of sensitive and confidential documents and files, and interviewing skills.
  • Experience interpreting federal and state regulations, such as Title IX, the Campus SaVE Act, and the Clery Act.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and to make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Knowledge of FERPA.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent administrative and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to large groups of people.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve goals.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning and systems thinking.
  • Interpersonal skills with large groups and individuals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
All employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, harassment, including sexual harassment.
  • This position is considered {{Emergency Response Reporting}} for the purposes of Emergency Response.
Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8-5
TRAINING
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:
2-3 weeks of training with the expectation to fully run the department with minimal oversight within 6 months
SAFETY

  • Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management.
  • Work-related injuries must be immediately reported to Security and Human Resources. When life or limb are at risk, please dial 911. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.
  • Emergency Employees report for or must remain at work in emergency situations. Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to this position, unless instructed otherwise by your direct supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team.
SCREENING
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University's insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
