JOB SUMMARY
As part of Campus Counseling Services, this position will provide mental health counseling and assessment services for undergraduate students at Southeastern University. In addition this position will also provide consultation services to both faculty and staff to address student concerns and aid in the facilitation of external mental health referrals. Successful candidates will be generalists who are multi-culturally affirming and possess competence and experience in working with diverse populations within a college/university environment.
ORGANIATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Director of Counseling and Wellness
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:
  1. Provide effective and efficient counseling services directly to university students, including: intake and case formulation; individual, couples and/or group counseling; crisis & emergency assessment and intervention, and participate in emergency on-call.
  2. Professionally consult and act as a service liaison to students, faculty, staff, and parents, particularly regarding students in distress.
  3. Plan and implement psycho-educational programming and other outreach activities for the campus community.
  4. Maintain clinical and administrative documentation of psychotherapeutic and other professional activities in compliance with prevailing policies and procedures, and consistent with professional standards.
  5. Participate in professional training and development activities, including fulfilling all requirements to maintain appropriate state license.
EDUCATION
Required Education:
Master's in Counseling, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or other closely related field
Preferred Education:
Doctorate in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work or closely related field
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
A license to practice in a mental health profession in the state of Florida is required.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Demonstrated experience in providing a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods in a brief therapy model
Preferred:
Experience in higher education or working with student populations.

    4. Ability to maintain good client records and use electronic record keeping technologies
    5. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information
    6. Adherence to state law and appropriate code(s) of ethics based on discipline
    7. Ability to relate effectively with diverse members of the University's community
WORK ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate a computer, standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small boxes and other items, to walk short distances, and sit or stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive motion, including substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for typing. Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Must have the ability to hear and communicate orally for extended periods.

M-F 8:30-4:30; Off during Christmas and summer breaks
TRAINING
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:
  • FERPA
  • HIPAA
  • Other training, as required

SCREENING
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University's insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
