Position Overview:
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accounting records within the general ledger, assisting with accounts receivables, accounts payables and play a key role in preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization assets, liabilities, profit and loss and other related financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheets income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Maintains the general ledger
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank activity monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Assists in coordination of accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or process input and payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts in a timely manner.
- Set up new customers and invoice in accounting system.
- Assist with vendor and customer questions related to billing.
- Assists in providing external auditors with assistance, gathers necessary accounting information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Interact with department leads across organization
- Maintain data within the purchasing and invoicing system
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation for AP/AR accounts during month-end close.
- Perform monthly close duties including AP accruals and other miscellaneous journal entries.
- Analyze and maintain aged accounts receivables and payables reports for accuracy and to identify any critical issues.
- Process automation: reviewing current processes, researching and implementing automation or improvement solutions in partnership with the accounting staff.
- Special projects: assist the Director of Financial and Accounting with special projects, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required
- 2 years of related experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively
- Ability to work in a fast paced and high demanding environment
