To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
- Provides educational assistance to program participants at their academic placement.
- Coordinates carry-over strategies developed by the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team.
- Conducts IEP meetings
- Designs and implements individual education plans
- Attends weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team.
- Completes all necessary documentation such as service summaries, reports, billing slips, etc.
- Supervises and assists in development and implementation of curriculum.
- Develops methods of evaluating student progress.
- Meets with parents/guardians and students to provide guidance and seek solutions to problems.
- Implements policy and procedure of the classroom environment.
- Establishes and maintains a supportive working relationship within both the agency, school and in the broader community service network.
- Performs other related duties and activities as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education is required
- Pennsylvania Special Education PK-12 certification required
- One year experience in classroom or tutorial settings. Experience with special populations preferred.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly.
- A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.
