DescriptionLocation: Main Campus
Department: SURGICAL SERVICES ADMIN
Schedule: , 8 HR Day Shift, 0800-1630
Position SummaryDesigns, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs (orientations, continuing education, and in-services) that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, competency, and attainment of standards of care for employees. These programs will be developed, implemented, and evaluated using adult education principles. Clinical programs will be developed using nursing theory, nursing clinical expertise, standards of practice, and adult education principles. Nurse Educators also collaborate with directors and administrators throughout South Georgia Health System.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Current RN license in the State of Georgia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of 1 year experience in area of specialty required.
  • Current CPR Healthcare Course C Instructor certification (or ability to obtain it) within 6 months of hire.
  • ACLS or PALS instructor certification (or ability to obtain it) within 12 months of hire, as appropriate to assigned units.
  • Nursing experience required; hospital experience preferred.
  • Acute patient care and teaching experience preferred.
  • Flexible in work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem solving techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess learning needs of healthcare personnel.
  • Ability to conduct educational programs for a wide range of healthcare personnel.
  • Ability to plan educational programs based on objectives and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of office, educational, and clinical equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Works primarily in hospital setting, including clinical/patient care areas and office or classroom areas. Primarily daytime hours with flexibility required to meet educational needs. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting *occasionally in excess of fifty pounds. Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make recommended decisions in complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases.
