Overview

Performs operation waste collection, containerization, management and associated functions. 

Responsibilities

Performs general manual labor tasks associated with HAZWOPER and industrial/commercial waste management operations, entering and cleaning tanks/tankers. In addition, performs operation of a commercial motor vehicle with frequent stops/pickups. Performs general manual labor tasks associated with HAZWOPER and commercial tank truck operation.

Enters tankers and removes sludges and various debris. Will be using pressure washers and various other methods. Sweeps up debris and shovels sludges into buckets, wheelbarrows and other suction methods. Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses. Confined space entry training is required. This is an outdoor position that can have exposure to chemicals, hot water and various other elements.

On occasion, must have ability to wear a tight fitting, negative-pressure respirator and occlusive chemical protective clothing. Position requires working on uneven work surfaces frequent pushing/pulling/carrying of equipment/objects/debris of varying and often awkward sizes, shapes and weights including bending, lifting, pushing and pulling of tank truck hoses. May occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and frequently lift 40-50 pounds. Frequently climbs ladders, stairs, etc. May use hand manual and power hand tools hand shovel with exposure to noise and vibration. Periodic to frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals with designated personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Clear, valid driver's license

Hazwoper and confined space entry certifications a plus
