Job Summary |
This position is primarily responsible for trauma patient identification, data abstraction, trauma registry data entry and registry maintenance, assisting with trauma performance improvement data management, and assisting with facilitating correct trauma billing as well as other duties as assigned by the Director of Trauma Services. This position also requires ability to organize and/or participate in events related to injury prevention, public outreach, and education. Performs concurrent and retrospective review of trauma patient records and analyzes data utilizing established criteria for trauma indicators and studies. Identifies trends, profiles, and patterns to report findings to the Director of Trauma Services by reviewing charts for essential data required by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Monitors patient record from time of admission to discharge. Conducts chart studies on various issues as requested. Enters and maintains statistical information in database to generate information requested for required and special trauma reports or projects. Audits Trauma and Injury scores to verify correct information. Works to review established criteria for quality assurance indicators to monitor care of trauma patients. Identifies high volume, high risk, or problem prone aspects of trauma care. Develops and maintains effective working relationship with hospital department team members to exchange information pertaining to trauma patients. Documents recommendations/ action plans and refers information to Director of Trauma Services for follow-up.
Responsible for all aspects of the EMS program including the planning, review, development, and general effectiveness of the program. Responsibilities also include meeting and maintaining accreditation requirements, systemic review of program effectiveness, team member recruitment, and scheduling.
