Children’s Worship Leader

Sharon Presbyterian Church (SPC) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Sunday morning Children’s Worship leader to join our Children's Ministry team. The ideal candidate will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while supporting the mission and values of our church.

· Lead Children’s Worship program for children ages 3-years – Kindergarten

· Part Time: Sundays from 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. (Sept – May)

· Pay: $30.00 per hour

· Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

· Reports to: Director of Christian Education (DCE) in consultation with Education Committee

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children who attend Children’s Worship, which occurs during the 10:30 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for the children and their families.
• Maintain an attractive and clean learning environment. Set up and clean up Children’s Worship space and activity areas.
• Be familiar with supplies on hand. Notify DCE if extra or special supplies are needed.
• Submit requests for reimbursements within two weeks of purchase to DCE or SPC’s Financial Officer.
• Use only approved resources & follow Education Committee’s guidelines for Curriculum Approval.
• Collaborate with other Children's Ministry staff and volunteers to create a cohesive program. Plan regularly with co-leader. DCE is available for planning sessions.
• Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding their child's experience and any concerns.
• Notify DCE or Education Committee chair (with as much advanced notice as possible) if a substitute is needed.
• On Sundays:
• Arrive early enough to arrange room and be ready to receive children by 10:45 a.m.
• Plan to attend first few minutes of 10:30 worship service (through the Children’s Sermon) and escort children to room.
• Lead lesson (story, craft, song, related activities) until end of service (approx.11:30).
• If visitors are present, welcome them & record pertinent information (name, address, phone number, e-mail). Share information from visitors with DCE.
• Straighten room before leaving. Leader should turn off lights and make sure that all windows and/or doors are closed and locked.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or ministry setting.
• Desire to share the Christian faith.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A passion for working with children and supporting their growth and faith development.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must complete and pass SPC’s Safe Church Policy training, a background check, and be certified by SPC prior to service.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
