About The RoleThe Medical Receptionist at SDDDC plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient clinic operations and enhancing the patient experience. This position entails managing patient check-ins, scheduling, electronic record maintenance, and coordination with medical professionals. The ideal candidate will be skilled in multitasking, familiar with medical software, and uphold patient confidentiality standards. Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.
Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
Handles requests from third-party referral sources and provides relevant information and data.
Assemble information concerning the patient’s clinical background and referral needs. Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to referring physician.
Ensure prior approval requirements are met, including insurance eligibility and authorization.
Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
Ensure the patient’s chart is up to date with information on physician notes, consults, hospitalizations, ER visits, and test results.
Checks all pages in the record to verify correct patient information.
Interprets and implements policies relating to the disclosure of confidential patient medical information.
Analyzes and answers correspondence requests in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements/statutes.
Reviews, and completes fax inboxes in a timely manner.
Demonstrates a courteous, respectful, and helpful attitude when working with patients.
Reviews and completes EHR tasks as assigned.
Follow employee and nursing policy/procedure manuals and adhere to HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
Documents patient transactions, phone conversations, observations, and orders in medical records according to the clinic’s policies and procedures.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain positive employee relations.
Assist in answering incoming calls and returning voicemails in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
Proficiency in EHR systems and medical software
Excellent communication, bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Medical Assistant Program certification and AHS BLS certification
Customer service: 1 year (Required)
Medical terminology: 1 year (Required)
Computer skills: 1 year (Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification
At least 2 years in customer service and medical front desk roles
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential

Hour Rate Range
$20.00 - $22.00 (Salary commensurate with experience)
