Shearwater Geophysical Co is Hiring a Software Development Engineer Near Seattle, WA
This hybrid role, based in Seattle, will be working closely with talented developers to assist with many challenging yet rewarding projects. Having a passion for creating a stellar customer-focused experience with problem solving and self-driven curiosity will be crucial non-technical skills to help build out new systems alongside a dedicated team. Teamwork is key in this role and when challenges arise, we step up to overcome them and bring the team with us as we navigate projects together. In addition to working with fellow developers, you will also be working closely with our product, marketing, creative, UI/UX and customer support teams. Job Responsibilities
- Ability to communicate complex technical problems in clear and concise verbal and written form.
- Collaborate as a dedicated team member, consistently aiming for project success and ongoing personal growth.
- Develop, design and maintain full stack applications using best software development
- Challenge and be challenged in detailed and constructive code review sessions.
- Pair-program with senior developers to build and expand your skillset.
- Participate in agile and scrum ceremonies to support positive team, project and process
- Research, troubleshoot and debug technical issues to overcome challenges and produce clean, efficient and easy to understand
- Write documentation regularly to help guide colleagues of the present and the future.
- Read stack trace to identify underlying issues to help guide and support quick and confident solutions.
- Be a defender of our customers andhelp build monitoring around the health of our systems.
- Show up eager to create and excited to be part of a business that uses technology to build beautiful books.
- BS in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of popular web application frameworks for the creation of highly interactive Single Page Applications (SPA) web design (e.g., React or similar).
- Experience in programming languages such as Java, JavaScriptor similar.
- Experience with NoSQL database management systems such as DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- A desire to keep code regression at bay by writing and maintaining efficient and effective Unit, API and Web tests.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for learning new technologies.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
