JOB DESCRIPTION

The Prep Cook’s main objective is to take point on executing all required procedures for daily food prep. The Prep Cook will accomplish this by setting up and breaking down the kitchen, keeping kitchen and walk-in orderly throughout the day, run point on all batch recipe items and communicate needs to management & cooks. This position requires a commitment to excellence of every recipe being produced as well as a positive attitude. The Prep Cook will engage appropriate company directionality by ensuring proper creation and storage of all items with a commitment that each recipe being executed meets the highest standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fill out & preform daily kitchen opening duties checklist
  • Ensure entire required prep list is executed daily 
  • Communicate low stock alerts
  • Monitor waste and mitigate loss
  • Ensure all items in walk in/reach in are stored and labeled properly
  • Manage putting away and organize incoming orders
  • Arrive at work ready to work by time of shift start
  • Assist Head Chef in any requested tasks 
  • Ensure recipe integrity is being upheld 
  • Ensure appearance meets standards
  • Ensure performance meets standards
  • Ensure kitchen is visually presentable throughout the day
  • Take lead in kitchen team’s adherence to sanitation & food safety regulations
  • Maintain a safe and respectful work environment 
  • Assist Head Chef by taking photos as asked to contribute to company photo collection
  • Fill out & preform daily kitchen closing duties checklist 

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong organizational skill
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Vision for the prep execution flow, to ensure completion of all required tasks
  • Strong attention to recipe procedure & food safety procedures
  • Strong prep cooking & knife skills
  • Food handler’s card
  • Reliable transportation
  • Current driver’s license & clean driving record 
  • 1-3 year prep cook experience required

COMPENSATION 

$15-18/ hour based on experience

Inclusion in the tip pool
