Position Summary Works under general supervision of the IV-D supervisor and manager to serve subpoenas, summons, garnishments, warrants, attachments, and other official instruments for the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee. Pay Grade: 41 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications 100.00% - 1. Two (2) years of field experience in a law enforcement capacity; and 2. High school diploma or possess a GED. 3. Must be minimum age of 21 at the time of application. 4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Serves summons, subpoenas, garnishments, and other court instruments related to IV-D activity. 2. Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports. 3. Maintains a system of files, as required. 4. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSA's KSAs - 1. Ability to speak and write fluently in English and Spanish preferred. 2. General knowledge of legal instruments to be served. 3. General knowledge of law enforcement processes and techniques. 4. Ability to make quick, sound decisions based on a given situation. 5. Ability to work courteously and tactfully with public citizens and co-workers. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers, school officials and other associated agencies. 7. Must possess good communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise, legible reports. Special Requirements 1. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet Shelby County Government requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment. 2. Must successfully pass a physical examination. 3. Must pass a psychological examination. 4. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver"s license or secure one by date of employment. 5. Must have a Tennessee Enhanced Handgun Permit or be able to successfully obtain the permit upon employment. 6. Must pass firearms qualification requirements prior to six (6) month job probation period.
