At Shining Stars Montessori Academy, our mission is to provide a quality Montessori education that nurtures children's development while embracing diversity. We are located in Washington, DC, and are proud to be one of the few public Montessori schools in the nation's capital. Our school, accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Middle States Association-Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS), offers a program from preschool through sixth grade.
Position OverviewWe are currently seeking experienced elementary-trained Montessori Guides/Teachers to join our team. This role involves working with students aged 6-9 in our Lower Elementary classrooms. The position may require a mix of virtual and in-person teaching.
Key Responsibilities

• Promote our school's vision, mission, and goals to students, parents, and the community.
• Deliver the Primary Montessori Curriculum incorporating culturally relevant practices and meeting state learning standards.
• Develop and implement an authentic Montessori Lower Elementary curriculum aligned with the District of Columbia's Common Core State Standards.
• Conduct daily assessments and adjust teaching methods to cater to individual student needs.
• Maintain an organized and well-equipped classroom environment.
• Keep accurate records of student activities and progress.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues.
• Foster a culture of respect, diversity, and open communication with students and parents.

Requirements

• Montessori Elementary certification (ages 6-9) from an approved program.
• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
• Valid Elementary Education licensure or certification preferred.
• Teaching experience with diverse student populations.
• Commitment to creating an equitable learning environment.
