Shore Educational Collaborative is hiring a Special Education Teacher in our Discovery Program for students with severe or moderate to severe disabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver individual and group instruction to students with moderate to severe special needs and build strong relationships with students in order to push them to be their best selves both academically and personally
  • Design individualized curriculum, write education plans, collect and evaluate data
  • Implement comprehensive behavior support plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure each student is receiving the support they need, including training and providing supervision to paraprofessionals and consulting regularly with specialists or personnel involved in a child's program
  • Write and implement goals and objectives consistent with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide timely and regular progress reports on student development
  • Provide needed accommodations for student learning and testing when required
  • Develop and implement curriculum, and collect and analyze student work in preparation for MCAS Alternative Assessment to assure progress and development
  • Set ambitious learning goals for all students, create cognitively demanding tasks, and model the belief that all students can master challenging material through effective effort
  • Assess students’ understanding regularly with ambitious learning goals in mind and take ownership of making necessary adjustments to instruction to reach goals despite setbacks
  • Demonstrate understanding of how the subject matter applies in real-world settings and connects to other content areas and relevant standards
  • Convey content in creative and engaging ways that align to standards
  • Scaffold and differentiate instruction in order for all students to participate effectively
  • Use instructional practices that are likely to challenge, motivate, and engage all students and facilitate equitable, active student participation
  • Build a productive learning environment where every student participates and is valued as part of the class community
  • Actively create and maintain an environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected
  • Engage with families and build collaborative, respectful relationships with them in service of student learning
  • Regularly reflect on practice, seek and respond to feedback, and demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Participate in and contribute to a collaborative learning community

Qualifications:

  • Current DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities preferred. Experience working with students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
  • Candidates who are close to licensure, who are eligible for licensure, or who have a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered.

Salary range: $56,965.20 - $112,435.60 commensurate with experience and education. View our salary schedule here

This position will include a mandatory, six-week annual summer program, starting with the summer of 2025. The successful candidate may start in July or September 2024. An earlier start date may be possible.

Teachers in Educational Collaboratives participate in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
