JOB SUMMARY
The Shoreline Community College Dental Hygiene Program is located at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (1959 NW Pacific Street, Seattle WA 98195) and has the following features:

The work duties of the Dental Hygiene Instructors may include clinical and pre-clinical courses including teaching skills in local anesthesia, restorative dentistry and radiology. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate may advise students, assist with assessment of current instructional methods, develop programs and curricula, and participate in Shoreline governance, department, division and campus-related professional activities.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Experience teaching in a higher education environment and professional-technical education
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional and clinical technologies, including Electronic Health Records and HIPAA
  • Current license to practice as a dental hygienist in Washington State
  • Quality Matters training

Conditions of Employment
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is usually performed in a clinic, laboratory or classroom space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors use appropriate PPE as well as computers and media equipment in the work environment.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
