Job Description – Project Manager
PSS’s Project Manager drives multiple steel projects through all phases (post award) of the process from initiating detailing process with vendors, ensuring structure fabrication is on time, coordination of scheduling installation of steel structures and coordination with AFS superintendents to drive a seamless process when needed between wood and steel installations on the same project. Responsible for project communication with clients, troubleshooting and negotiation of project scheduling, management of all change order processes and documentation. Is expected to understand job financials at all times to determine adherence to expected labor and material costs. Visits job sites and partners with installation crews to understand job challenges in order to effectively convey to clients when needed.
Essential Functions
Accountable for successful and complete oversight of steel projects as assigned to include scheduling, tracking of progress and billing and overall project success.
Responsible for driving effective communication with clients on project process and selected vendors on all assigned jobs during preconstruction, construction, and close-out. Responsible for keeping internal support staff informed on activities that affect their respective departmental functions.
Monitor job budget throughout project execution to track adherence and allocation of job costs – labor and material costs.
Manage and ensure all document control activities are undertaken as expected from clients, sign offs are documented and project document files are complete with project sign-offs, including warranties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Office suite software — Microsoft Office
Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Education - BA or BS (college graduate)
