Our client is a national partner for successful gastroenterology practices. They believe in the mantra “medicine is local.” Our client provides high-performing regional practices with the resources necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape while maintaining their practices’ identities.

Job Title: Controller to VP Level Department: Finance/Accounting

Reports To: CFO Effective Date: Open now

Salary/Hourly Pay Range: $165,000 to $180,000, up to 30% Bonus. For the right person, equity.

Location: Greenwood Village, CO (DTC area); potential for relocation in the form of a flat sign-on bonus.

Travel: TBD

Job Summary:

The Controller is responsible for direct oversight of the accounting team and helps guide the financial decisions of the organization by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of financial statements, payroll, budgets, and tax compliance.

Our client hopes to identify a Controller that has VP level skills, solid reporting and stewardship but also leadership, ability to handle banking, insurance, outside accounting, taxes and regulatory authority relationships. An advisor who can chart paths towards greater profitability while ensuring compliance. A leader of finance services to inside and outside customers. Is this you?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive financial reporting to senior management by calculating and analyzing important data elements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines at the direction of the CFO.
  • Manage accounting staff and achieve budget goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
  • Maximize efficiencies through innovative process improvement and development.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, budgets, and expenditures.
  • In conjunction with CFO, establish financial reporting standards and clear communication to all users of financial data.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all accounting functions.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
  • Oversee and support accounting team with leadership that creates an environment of trust, efficiency, and career development.
  • Act as first point of contact for all accounting practices and relevant questions, concerns, and organizational needs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Proven payroll experience with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
  • Strong history of financial project management
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Ability to multitask and handle a high level of complexity
  • Detail oriented and ability to organize/prioritize projects and deadlines
  • Ideally, the candidate lives in the Denver area to enable easy meetings in the office

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field
  • Ten (10) years proven accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • CPA highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of healthcare financial processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office
