Sidney Regional Medical Center is Hiring an EMT-B / Driver / CNA Near Sidney, NE

Sidney Regional Medical Center is searching for EMT-B/Advanced/Driver/CNA roles to join our ambulance team. Under the supervision of the Medical Director and guidance of a licensed Paramedic or RN, the EMT-B/Advanced/Driver/CNA is responsible for assisting with direct patient care within the scope of their practice as well as other work on the unit which supports the patient environment. The EMT-B/Advanced/ Driver/CNA assists staff to ensure optimal patient care and assist the healthcare team to provide and maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for patients. Work will include components of direct patient care, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation of patients and supplies, and general maintenance of the patient environment. The EMT-B/Advanced/ Driver/CNA will be a team player.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs patient care as defined by scope of practice – duties may include but not limited to taking vital signs, assisting patients with bathing, eating, dressing, transfers and ambulation, repositioning patients in bed to prevent skin breakdown, change linens, record oral intake and measure urinary output, collect specimens for tests, supply and empty bed pans, interact with patients and family, and transport patients and equipment as allowed by state regulation.
  • Obtains and maintains current EVOC and Hazmat training.
  • Obtains IS-100, 200, 700, and 800.
  • Obtains capillary blood glucose after CLIA training is completed.
  • Performs EKG’s after EKG training completed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific patient populations and cultural diversity during the provision of patient care.
  • Maintain his/her own clinical and mandatory education requirements and for meeting the established standards of their profession.
  • Contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
  • Adapts to the needs of the unit by demonstrating flexibility/adaptability.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records of EMT-B/Advanced/CNA actions. Documents care according to hospital policies and procedures and in a clear, concise and legible manner.
  • Demonstrates good infection control practices including hand washing.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures as defined by Sidney Regional Medical Center.
  • Assists other staff as necessary to ensure the provision of quality patient care.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and co-workers.
  • Responds promptly to patient emergencies in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times according to hospital policy and procedures and HIPAA requirements.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and provide care in a non-judgmental, nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient/family diversity while preserving each patient’s autonomy, dignity and rights.
  • Reports/documents all incidents such as errors and patient incidents to hospital staff as defined in hospital policy and procedures.
  • Reports any unexpected patient incidents, including errors, falls, unanticipated deaths, injuries and safety hazards to Charge Nurse
  • Assumes responsibility to report clinical limitation or the need for assistance to the supervisor or peer.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner at all times – this includes arriving to work on time and completing each shift as determined by the hospital.
  • Maintains positive behaviors, approaches, attitude, and commitment to interpersonal service toward patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Adheres to facility specific job description for specialty
  • Other duties as defined/assigned by management.

Education & Experience:

  • Current, unrestricted license/registration
  • Must be 25 years of age
  • Licensure/registration in state of practice, as applicable
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to meet all health, compliance and competency requirements
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Other as required for specific assignments or for employment
  • Valid Driver’s License with EVOC (renewed every 2 years)
