SIFMA is currently looking for a Conferences & Event Sales Intern in our New York office for the summer. An internship at SIFMA gives candidates hands-on experience working on substantive and challenging projects, while collaborating with experts in the financial services industry and public policy arena.

Throughout the nine-week program, each intern will be assigned specific projects, to be completed by the program’s end and for which they will receive authorship credits. The intern will provide administrative, organizational and logistical assistance to the Conferences and Event Sales team.

Role Responsibilities:

• Perform competitive research analysis;
• Provide logistical support for events including but not limited to: reserving conference rooms, audio-visual equipment and food and beverage; reviewing travel logistics and expense reimbursement forms; assisting with the pre- and on-site registration process; answering and responding to conferences and events department phone line, inbox and voicemail; and reviewing and submitting final invoices for payment;
• Perform speaker management database entry and analysis;
• Perform sales and sponsorship database entry and analysis;
• Support various event marketing and membership projects;
• Provide departmental administrative support.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality;
• Demonstration of excellent clerical, organizational, time management and written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical skills including a full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with database use and functionality.
• Ability to prioritize tasks/workload.
• Flexibility and versatility with project needs and requests;
• Demonstrates professional demeanor.
• Commitment to provide superior customer service with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients.
• Shows work effectiveness, persistency and commitment.

Hourly rate: $18 per hour
