Queen Kapiolani Hotel is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our team!

Job Duties
  • Assists Executive Housekeeper in the smooth and efficient running of the housekeeping department, ensuring all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Ensures Housekeeping team always deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Conducts regular inspections of rooms, ensuring that inspection program and standards of cleanliness is always maintained.
  • Prepares and posts weekly work schedules, making sure that they reflect business needs and other key performance indicators.
  • Review, verify and approve timecards for payroll processing.
  • Responsible for inventory and purchasing of supplies, working closely with vendors to assure proper pricing, delivery, and maintenance.
  • Assures all safety and security policies and procedures are followed.
  • Works closely with other departments in a supportive and flexible manner to ensure daily operation runs smoothly.
  • Assists in conducting annual performance reviews
  • Ensure OSHA and ADA policies are adhered to.
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect property service standards and procedures.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of all housekeeping employees and ensure proper staffing levels for customer service goals.
  • Assists in the planning and implementing effective training programs for all housekeeping employees to develop the skills needed to be successful and to provide exceptional guest service.
Essential Experience/Aptitudes
  • 2 years or more of progressive hotel Rooms Management experience.
  • 2 years or more in a supervisor position.
  • The ability to produce high quality work in a consistent and reliable manner, in support of property standards and processes.
  • The ability to identify priorities, solve problems, produce desired results and be accountable for commitments.
  • The ability to build relationships within and across functions, balance individual and team goals, respect others and value different perspectives.
  • The ability to listen actively and identify appropriate messages and delivery methods to effectively influence others.
  • The ability to initiate action, make decisions, adapt, drive change, use resources efficiently and solve problems quickly, creatively, and practically.
  • The ability to identify needs, shape actions and add value to relationships based on a central focus of customer satisfaction.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in customer service job is desired.
  • Knowledge of Union Collective Bargaining Agreement highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Must have open availability to work any day, including holidays and weekends.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be punctual with regular and reliable attendance.
Essential Physical Abilities
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 40 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
  • Periodically required to work at a very fast pace, under pressure.
