Radio Hotel located in Washington Heights is seeking full-time and part-time Front Desk Hosts
About the Hotel and Restaurant
The Radio Tower & Hotel is a 221-room hotel, mixed-use high rise, located at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights area in Northern Manhattan. The property will feature a ground floor and rooftop bar, flexible meeting space, and a coffee shop. The Hotel will incorporate the unique look and feel of the Washington Heights neighborhood, catering to both the local Latin community and international travelers looking for affordable yet stylish rooms below the steep asking prices of downtown Manhattan hotels. This 22-story building, combines hotel, retail, and office functions in vibrantly stacked blocks, reflecting the vivacious character of the neighborhood. Washington Heights is the 5th largest neighborhood in New York with a population of over 150,000 people, but it is currently served by just two hotels. The event space will add a facility that did not previously exist in the neighborhood, offering locals a space to host weddings and other parties with spectacular views from the adjacent rooftop terrace.

About You

Our front desk is the hub of service for our guests, and we'd love to find someone who is passionate about providing great service and hosting our guests in New York City. Job Responsibilities
  • Checking guests in and out
  • Answering telephones in a prompt and professional manner and providing assistance to callers
  • Taking reservations in person and over the phone
  • Reading and responding to hotel email
  • Completing group pre-registrations and key packets
  • Posting charges and processing payments
  • Communicating with Housekeeping and Maintenance
  • Handling mail and coordinating deliveries of messages and packages
  • Anticipating guests' needs, acting promptly to acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Communicate service and amenities of the hotel to guests and provide Concierge service as needed. Maintain a fluent knowledge of local restaurants, special events, city attractions, and outdoor activities.
Essential Experience/Requirements
  • A minimum of one years' experience in a customer/guest service and/or public contact related job is desired.
  • Prior hotel front desk experience desired 
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate, ideally with a knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Must have great communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
  • Possess a courteous, friendly and professional manner.
  • Independent thinker and a 'quick study'.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be punctual with regular and reliable attendance.
Essential Physical Abilities:
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping.
  • Remain in stationary position for a maximum eight hours (excluding meal and rest breaks)
  • Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 40 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
  • Periodically required to work at a very fast pace, under pressure.
