Come join a growing team within SIGMA Group's Surplus division as a Sales and Inventory Manager!
The Sales and Inventory Manager, Surplus is critical in driving our surplus sales strategies, managing the purchasing of industrial automation parts, and overseeing inventory control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surplus sales, purchasing management, and a deep understanding of the industrial automation and MRO sectors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Surplus Sales Management:
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to maximize revenue from surplus inventory, including identifying target markets and building relationships with potential buyers.
  • Manage the wholesale pipeline, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring that surplus parts are effectively marketed and sold through the appropriate downstream avenues.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns to drive surplus sales.
Purchasing Management:
  • Oversee the procurement of surplus industrial automation parts and MRO components, ensuring alignment with company goals and inventory needs.
  • Negotiate and establish relationships with the regional account managers to secure competitive offers on high turnover inventory
  • Assist with teaching and training of account managers for continuous improvement
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify new purchasing opportunities and stay ahead of competition.
Inventory Control:
  • Manage inventory levels to balance surplus stock and ensure optimal turnover rates.
  • Implement and maintain effective inventory control processes, including tracking, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with the quality control team to ensure all purchased and surplus inventory meets the company’s standards.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track and analyze sales and purchasing performance metrics, preparing regular reports for senior management.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance sales performance and purchasing efficiency.
  • Enforces accountability with surplus account managers and goal achievement
Compliance and Best Practices:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices in all sales and purchasing activities.
  • Leads with integrity and supports company ownership mentality
  • Stay updated on industry standards and incorporate best practices into daily operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in sales and purchasing, preferably within the industrial automation or MRO sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing surplus sales and procurement processes successfully.
  • Can effectively lead a small team; supervisory experience
  • Lead by example mentality; strong advocate for company culture/morale
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
