Job Summary:

The Dental Hygiene Assistant is responsible for assisting the dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. The Dental Hygiene Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.

Essential Duties:

• Setting up treatment rooms for procedures
• Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Updating patients radiographs as needed
• Showing care, concern, and helping patients feel comfortable
• Reviewing health history according to the practice's protocol
• Performing expanded functions and other tasks assigned by the hygienist
• Maintaining inventory control in the hygiene rooms
• Ensuring that accurate treatment notes are recorded in patients' charts
• Monitoring patient flow
• Providing patients with instructions and demonstrating proper techniques when necessary
• Oversee cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures and OSHA regulations
• Ensure office sterilization procedures are documented
• Assists in monitoring hygiene schedule and confirming appointments, as needed
• Any other duties as assigned

Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Friday 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Fridays vary)

Education / Experience:

• DA II Certificate
• X-ray Certification
• Coronal Polishing, preferred
