Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accessions specimens for Histology Specimen embedding Performs slide cover slipping and labeling as needed Manual routine and special staining Cleans and maintains instruments Assists pathologists/pathologists assistants with bone marrow procedures as necessary Cytology specimen processing Specimen rotation/disposal Assists with inventory control Assists in accessioning, staining, and cover slipping specimens for Cytology when needed Other duties as required for departmental operation Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in a science related field preferred. Two years additional training in biology, medical terminology, and laboratory sciences preferred.
