POSITION: K – Grade 6 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
l) Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
2) Three years teaching experience in an elementary setting.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Superintendent of Schools or her/his designee.
JOB GOAL: Provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of curriculum instruction and assessment—Grades K – 6.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:
1) Assists and works with the Assistant Superintendent and principals in organizing and coordinating district, grade level and departmental meetings, in order to support horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation (Grade level meetings K – 6 and at meetings with the Silver Lake Regional Grades 7 – 12 Department Heads).
2) Assists principals and professional staff with Special Needs students and SpEd inclusion students regarding curriculum instruction and assessment.
3) Assists in the support, development, and implementation of grants.
4) Observes and evaluates teachers
5) Evaluates curriculum implementation and continuity.
6) Monitors the consistency of the curriculum in relationship to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Strategic Plan.
7) Coordinates the data collection, analysis and evaluation relative to curriculum and instruction including pilot and implementation phases.
8) Assists in analysis of assessment data for curriculum, including that related to MCAS.
9) Supports communication of curriculum development to parents and community.
10) Develops guidelines for short and long range curriculum projects for students and staff.
11) Models lessons for staff; demonstrating best practice and proven effective teaching strategies.
12) Assists in the selection of new personnel.
13) Assists in assessing the professional development needs of the faculty.
14) Develops and conducts various training and instruction workshops for staff in the areas of curriculum and instruction.
15) Assists principals in recommending the purchase of appropriate curriculum supplies and materials.
16) Performs other duties as requested by the Assistant Superintendent.
TERMS of EMPLOYMENT:
Regular school year plus three (3) additional weeks. Salary and benefits offered by through the Town of Kingston
REQUIRED: Valid state licensure to practice as a coordinator (supervisor or principal/assistant principal).
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
