Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Restaurant General Manager will partner with the General Manager of the Simon Pearce Restaurant to provide support in all areas of restaurant and bar operations. The Manager is responsible for guest relations, management of staff, running assigned floor shifts, opening and closing of the restaurant and other tasks related to providing an exceptional guest experience and supporting the operations of the Simon Pearce Mill Restaurant Bars. In addition to these restaurant responsibilities, the Manager will also be assisting in the training, development and support in our bars.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Simon Pearce Restaurant General Manager in all aspects of running the restaurant

  • Support the open and close of the restaurant and bar

  • Set the highest standards of service by:

    1. Understanding the philosophy of outstanding guest service that is Simon Pearce

    2. Managing all restaurant personnel through open and effective communication

    3. Providing exceptional guest service, and responding to all guest concerns and complaints in a timely fashion

    4. Assisting the culinary leadership team in upholding the highest culinary standards

  • Must be the ultimate host for all of our guests. This means treating everyone with respect, honesty and treating them like family, and ensuring that everyone who sets foot in our restaurant and bar has an outstanding experience each and every time, and will return

  • Recognize regular guests and develop caring relationships, introduce himself/herself to new guests, and initiate frequent verbal correspondence with all guests

  • Developing a consistent presence in our Bar so that we can provide the best bar experience for our guests and employees

  • Regularly read and review industry publications and other materials related to industries and interests of our guests

  • Responsible for the cleanliness, proactive and preventative maintenance and repair of all areas of the dining room, kitchen, employee areas and fixed machinery

  • Communicates with the restaurant management team and hourly employees regarding operational issues to find solutions to problems

  • Coordination, organization and training of Open Table and Squirrel technology

  • All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develops a cohesive team spirit and high-level morale among the dining room and kitchen staffs through best practices performance management

  • Assures that all restaurant and company specific policies and procedures are adhered to

  • Conducts ongoing evaluations of all front of house (FOH) employees, and conducts annual performance reviews relative to established restaurant and company criteria

  • Assist in training of FOH staff and continually develop our training program

  • Handle all disciplinary action in a timely fashion

  • Meet with the leadership team on a weekly basis and provide continual feedback and creative thinking at these meetings

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of accounting, legal and operational forms, reports and requirements of the restaurant

  • Produce all daily reports for accounting, make deposits, verify cash

  • Review all controllable costs and seek to make reductions where appropriate and improve upon the profitability of Simon Pearce Restaurant Bars

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Hospitality or Management field

  • 2 years of restaurant management experience at the assistant level or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent computer skills including, but not limited to the use of email, word processing, and spreadsheets

  • Must be fluent in English; helpful if conversant in Spanish, French or Italian

  • Must be flexible in scheduling depending on the changing job demands and seasonality of the business including weekends and holidays

  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation methods, culinary terminology, and experience in wine and spirits

  • Leadership qualities including, but not limited to:

    • Outstanding listening skills;

    • The ability to motivate others;

    • Respect for, understanding of, and tolerance of others;

    • The ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with employees, guests, vendors, and facility support personnel.

  • Good judgment, demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions, and to solve any problems arising in the course of performing the work of the restaurant

  • Thorough knowledge of, and passion for food and where our food comes from, the importance of supporting local, sustainable agriculture, and cooking terms and methods

  • Professionally presented in personal appearance

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multi-task many responsibilities and requests
