Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

About us:

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights activist organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO and the OSCE, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe. The SWC is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Jerusalem and Buenos Aires. The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC. Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in 2024.

About the role:

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will be responsible for financial budgeting & forecasting for the organization. In this role, you will need to create assumption decks, revenue expense & capital expenditures, timing models, financial summaries and analysis for both on a profit & loss and cash flow basis. You will work closely with senior management and staff to help quantify the organization’s financial plans and strategy while creating rigorous processes and procedures that support the organization’s transition and growth plan.

About you:

You have strong interpersonal skills and a data-driven mindset with a strong track record with fostering accountability through well-defined targets and metrics.

This position reports to the VP/Controller based onsite in Los Angeles five days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company-wide planning cycle, oversee annual budgets, long-range plans, monthly/quarterly forecasts, rolling forecasts, variance analysis and other information as required.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews and create relevant reporting packages.
  • Analyze financial and operational results, identifying business trends and provide insights to senior management.
  • Define, maintain and improve on company metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Evaluate the organization’s progress toward goals, recommending new initiatives and driving dialogue.
  • Prepare financial information for senior management and board of trustee meetings.
  • Develop business cases to support new investments, strategic decisions, M&A activities, including valuation analysis and participate in due diligence reviews.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 7 years’ increasingly responsible experience in Finance/FP&A roles
  • Experience with transforming organizations, with a track record of forecasting, and reporting in growth-oriented environments.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in complex financial modeling and data analysis using tools as SQL, Tableau, and other products.
  • Familiarity with film industry and analyzing spending decisions is a plus.
  • Personality profile to fit into a safe, inclusive, open, and collaborative culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment where you will get your hands into the details.
