Key Job Activities:

  • Provides oversight for all operations and functions of the revenue management, accounts receivable management, charge reconciliation, claims management, denial management, collections, bad debt, and trend analysis.
  • Leverages technology to ensure that automated solutions and applications support functional objectives. Identifies gaps and proposes solutions where necessary.
  • Analyzes key metrics, ensures performance quality and accuracy.
  • Develops strategies to improve performance through work flows, software solutions, performance metrics, and payer communications.
  • Supports strategic planning initiatives and participates in effective execution of planning relevant to functional area(s).
  • Provides regular analysis of trends in the accounts receivables and provides suggestions for resolution of negative trends.
  • Provides expert guidance on maximizing collections through data analysis.
  • Evaluates vendor performance and ensures that performance meets or exceeds expectations in key categories.
  • Advises management team/clinical departments of changes in industry and governmental regulations that impact physician billing and reimbursement.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Medicare and Medicaid billing, collections and bad debts.
  • Maintains relationships with representatives of governmental and other third party payers to resolve billing problems and clarify policies.
  • Serves on committees slated to improve processes, efficiencies, systems, technology, implement regulatory requirements, and problem solving.
  • Stays abreast of industry changes impacting functional area and Revenue Cycle and identifies potential impact and required changes. Strives to promote best practices within the functional areas within the Revenue Cycle.
  • Supports the mission established by the SHS relative to teamwork, professional responsibility, adaptability, integrity, customer service, initiative, and behavioral standards.
  • Directs Vendor Management Program in Revenue Cycle; documents policies and workflows, and establishes reporting necessary for the success of the program, documents expectations, and current performance measures
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or work equivalent
  • 3 years of experience with revenue cycle management
  • 3 years of experience working with hospital billing

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and regulatory rules
  • Demonstrated ability to train and provide guidance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of hospital billing guidelines
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues impacting hospital billing
  • Knowledge of insurance company’s practice, regarding reimbursement and healthcare
  • Understands data, how to find and use it
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be organizationally savvy; knows how to get things done
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal and relational skills, including listening, written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.

Registry (per diem) Caregivers are caregivers who work less than 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Registry caregivers are employees of Sinai Health System but are typically on an as needed basis. These caregivers may be called upon to cover full-time or part-time caregivers during PTO events or sick leave as well as to provide supplemental coverage. Registry Caregivers are not eligible for Sinai’s benefit programs with the exception for Sick-C, PPO Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.
