Vivia Health is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Chicago, IL

Vivia Health is driven by providing high-quality comprehensive and holistic healthcare for patients regardless of their ability to pay. We provide our patients with Medical Health, Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Care, and Social Services.

As a Medical Assistant at Vivia Health, you will have a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of a diverse adult patient population in underserved communities. You will assist the Family Nurse Practitioner with care of patients. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on preventative care, disease management, and overall patient wellness.

What will your role entail?

  • Perform and document patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Assist during medical examinations and procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Perform basic laboratory tests
  • Instruct patients about medication, diet, and follow-up care
  • Sterilize medical instruments
  • Ensure medical equipment is functioning properly
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and reorder as necessary
  • Handle billing and coding for insurance purposes
  • Process insurance claims
  • Answer calls and direct inquiries
  • Communicate test results and other information to patients as instructed by the Family Nurse Practitioner

This role is part-time, 3 days a week, at our Gage Park clinic. The schedule is dependent on caseload.

What do you bring?

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistance program
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in medical terminology
  • Basic understanding of medical coding and billing
  • Competence in using EHR and other healthcare technologies
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to details
