SIRVA is Hiring a Director, Safety & Fleet Services Near Fort Wayne, IN

Position SummaryDirect the risk management, regulatory compliance and loss control efforts of two major interstate van lines and the activities of their fleets. Including fleet vehicle accident/injury prevention by establishing effective driver qualification, safety management and training programs to minimize van line and public safety risk. Also establishing and administering policies, procedures, and programs promoting safe work activities of drivers, laborers and corporate employees throughout the Sirva organization.
Functions And Responsibilities20%
  • Regulatory review and the development/enforcement of corresponding company policies dealing with federal, state and local agencies including the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Work with Sirva in-house and external legal counsel, insurance carriers, claims adjusters and third-party administrators to minimize exposures related to accident/injury claim litigation. Provide Counsel with Interrogatory and Discovery responses and serve as corporate representative for deposition and trial testimony stemming from fleet third-party liability cases

  • Direct fleet vehicle activities including vehicle qualification, compliance with graphic standards, legalization, credentialing, licensing and permitting. Oversee the compliance, calculation and reporting of all fleet IRP/IFTA tax obligations as well as other applicable tax responsibilities including but not limited to, various weight distance taxes and Federal Heavy Vehicle Use taxes.

  • Develop effective working relationships with Sirva executive staff, Agent Association committee leadership and individual agent ownership/management to ensure support for all department initiatives.

  • Contract/performance management of all third-party service providers responsible for providing various products and services associated with the effective administration of Sirva’s regulatory compliance and risk management programs

  • Ensure a productive work environment through personal development, training, solid operational procedures, effective communication and measurable goals and objectives. Compliance with all SIRVA corporate policies and procedures.

  • Corporate worker’s compensation program including claims oversight and OSHA reporting.
Qualifications And Preferred Skills
  • 5 to 10 years training and experience related to the transportation industry. Must have specific knowledge related to regulatory compliance, risk management and fleet tax program management
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience preparing and managing Department Budget
  • 3 to 5 years working with Agents, Drivers and Laborers
Education And Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
