Sister Schools is Hiring a Part-Time Program Manager Near Seattle, WA

Sister Schools is an education non-profit that promotes compassion, service and social responsibility in students within local schools, while unlocking education opportunities for students in Uganda. Our service-learning model partners schools in the Seattle area with schools in Uganda - facilitating school supply drives in the US and delivering those much-needed materials to students in Uganda. Our dual-impact program reaches over 9,000 children annually on both sides of the globe.
Sister Schools is seeking a dedicated Programs Manager to join the administrative team for part-time employment. This role is highly seasonal, involving 10 - 20 hours weekly from August to October and in June, and between 1-15 hours monthly for the remainder of the year. Compensation is $27 per hour. The role requires being on-site in the Seattle area for school-based activities, but most other work can be done remotely from home.
Strong presentation and project management skills will be pivotal in facilitating smooth operations, fostering student success, and contributing to the mission of empowering students. This role reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with staff in both our US and Uganda-based offices.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Partnership Development
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with local elementary school partners.
Program Implementation & Evaluation
  • Lead in-person presentations in local schools to facilitate student learning on topics concerning Uganda, community engagement, social responsibility, cultural awareness and collaboration. This will include local travel during Sept - November, and May-June to school partners (greater Seattle area) for presentations.
  • Facilitate school supply drives at school partners, documenting participation with photography and video.
  • Collect, sort and itemize collected school supplies and coordinate shipment via container to Uganda.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data on student impact.
  • Coordinate with Uganda-based office regarding distribution of school supplies to partnering Ugandan schools.
Staff Development, Training and Collaboration
  • Create curriculum and individualized school presentations to support student learning and engagement.
  • Present Sister Schools program, mission and vision to local community leaders, corporations and foundations to promote awareness and fundraise.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and fellow staff, both US and Uganda based, collaborating to engage in continuous program improvement, ensuring student outcomes are achieved while operating efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of non-profit or education work experience.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Premier Elements or other image and video editing software. Experience with basic visual and audio set up for presentations is considered an asset.
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, including the ability to effectively bridge cultural gaps.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations and work independently.
  • Valid driver's license, a vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) and the ability to drive truck for pickups (provided by Sister Schools).
  • Lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Push utility carts up to 50 pounds, and use carts, dollies and other gear to move items around.
