The Opportunity

The Senior Director, Product & Technology, will be responsible for leading and managing strategic initiatives that drive company growth and operational excellence. This role requires a highly skilled professional with a strong background in project and product management, strategic planning, technology management, and cross-functional leadership. This role will work closely to lead and execute Bright Horizons-Sittercity integration projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the tech industry, preferably within the childcare or education technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical, Design, and Product Expertise:
    • Develop and drive product strategy for our consumer and corporate businesses, based on business objectives and customer needs. Work collaboratively with product managers and stakeholders to develop this strategy into an achievable roadmap.
    • Drive quarterly OKR planning process for squads.
    • Clearly communicate strategy and goals across the company throughout all phases of work, from ideation to measurement.
    • Demonstrated skill in product leadership, including coaching product managers & product designers and leading product planning, feature prioritization, and trade-off evaluation
    • Demonstrated experience in managing on/offshore software development teams, including structuring team composition and workflows
    • Define and analyze metrics that inform product, design and technology success.
    • Drive improvements to our existing products and identify opportunities for new product ideas.
    • Stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends in the industry, providing guidance to the engineering team on technical architecture, development process optimizations, and industry best practices.
    • Collaborate with other departments to define product requirements and deliver solutions
  • Leadership and Management:
    • You'll lead a team of engineers, product designers & product managers providing direction, guidance, and mentorship to ensure the team's success. This involves setting clear goals, defining priorities, and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and set goals for individual team members to help them grow and succeed in their roles.
  • Strategic Initiative Management:
    • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of high-impact special projects.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and growth within the company.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with various departments, including Marketing, Trust and Safety, Analytics, and Customer Support, to ensure project success.
    • Facilitate effective communication and teamwork across teams to drive project milestones.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, clients, and partners, to gather requirements and provide regular updates on project status.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Utilize data-driven insights to guide project decisions and measure project performance.
    • Create detailed reports and dashboards to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Resource Management:
    • Allocate resources efficiently, ensuring that projects are staffed appropriately to meet objectives.
    • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
    • Proactively address challenges and obstacles that may impede project progress.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in project or product management, with a strong track record of leading complex projects to successful completion. Deep knowledge of consumer-centric technology including direct leadership of engineering teams in growth stage companies
  • Leadership/executive experience in the tech industry, particularly in childcare or education technology, is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
