Job Summary:

This position is designed to provide direct supervision and development of the Security seasonal team, and to develop, implement and administer departmental policies and procedures. This position will also support the department's efforts with concerts, loss prevention, emergency response, and other park safety functions. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall security and safety of Six Flags Darien Lake
• Hiring, supervising, and evaluation of seasonal team members assigned to Security
• Supervision of the Security dispatch center
• Implementation and maintenance of Corporate standards and programs
• Supervise and perform loss prevention, security, and park safety functions
• Conduct and/or coordinate all Security training programs.
• Maintain assigned inventories (uniforms, radios, keys, etc.)
• Conduct required investigations following accidents, incidents, injuries, etc.
• Serve as “Manager on Duty” as assigned
• Responsible for coordinating concert parking
• Responsible for enforcing all park rules, as well as ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal laws
• Exercise good judgment when determining a course of action, including when to use force and the appropriate level of force, with emphasis on problem solving and de-escalation techniques.
• Responsible for the park’s building security and access control systems
• Establish/maintain relationships with local police, fire and emergency medical organizations
• Maintain a friendly, clean and safe environment for guests and team members
• Perform other duties as required and assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior experience in law enforcement, security and/ or loss prevention

• Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to work in severe weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, cold/heat)
• For safety purposes, the individual must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to actively and effectively communicate with large groups of guests
• Must be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays within the limits of applicable Federal, State and facility labor laws and guidelines. Position is required to be “on call” for emergency situations
• Must pass applicable background screening
• Must have a high school degree or equivalency
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Must possess and maintain a valid New York State security guard license
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong motivational and leadership and organizational skills
• Possess good report writing skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft ™ Office products and general knowledge of computers
• Must be comfortable with emergency response and preparedness

Preferred (but not required) Skills and Qualifications at Time of Hire:

• Post high school degree preferred but not required, specializing in criminal justice or similar related experience
• Possess a thorough knowledge of park and departmental operating procedures
• Training and/or experience in incident management and mitigation
