*Job Summary*
Responsible for the nursing management of patients throughout their oncology treatment to include chemotherapy or other biologic agents, supportive therapy, and/or radiation therapy.
Assesses the patient; collects and documents the patient's current health status and medical history.
Plans/Implements; sets priorities for nursing action in a logical sequence according to patient's needs and formulates a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards. Evaluates; performs ongoing assessment and revises plan of care based on new data and patient's condition.
PATIENT SATISFACTION - Assists patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respects their confidentiality and privacy and communicates with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
PROBLEM SOLVING- Demonstrates sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. Investigates and follows through on unusual orders or requests for service or information.
PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY - Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
*Education*
RN required, BSN preferred. Must obtain chemo/bio validation prior to assignment in Infusion Room. Maintains standards set by the Commission on Cancer SRH’s Cancer Care Center accrediting body.
*Experience/Training*
Registered nurse with a minimum of three years recent nursing in oncology preferred. Minimum of 5 years non-acute care or 2 years acute care desired.
*License/Certifications*
Current Washington State RN License required. AHA (American Heart Association) BLS required. National certification in Oncology (OCN) preferred. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification is required prior to any administration of Chemotherapy.
