Sky View Academy is located within the Utah State Correctional Facility. This position works Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position will have direct contact with incarcerated individuals in small group settings while being monitored by security. The position is required to walk to different education units within the correctional facility to meet with testing candidates. Administering the required Adult Education tests such as the CASAS and TABE while conducting intakes with potential students as well as post-testing current students is a major portion of the job. Tracking the students and sharing information with educators and case managers is imperative, so a knowledge of various types spreadsheets is crucial to the position.
JOB SUMMARY
The Administrative Secretary – Department/School provides a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support to assigned administrator, provides effective communication with parents, students and administration, provides oversight to department functions and procedures, oversees site programs and activities, and ensures efficient implementation of assigned functions.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check with the Utah Department of Corrections Background check as well as complete ID badge training prior to being granted entry into the facility. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years’ experience working as a secretary or administrative assistant
Basic experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc.) and experience using data-based software
Speak, read, write, present professionally, analyze, understand, and interpret written and verbal communications in English

The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy office environment.
