Job Title: Line Service Technician

Status: Full-time and Part-time, Hourly

Skyborne welcomes Line Service Technician applicants to join our small but mighty crew who would love to work outdoors in a fast-paced aviation environment. Skyborne seeks Line Service Technicians to ensure safe ground operations and deliver outstanding customer service in a timely, friendly, professional approach. Skyborne also seeks technicians that enjoy working closely with coworkers, clients, vendors, and crewmembers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

I. GROUND SUPPORT SERVICES

Operate fuel truck and deliver fuel to aircraft in accordance with safety and fuel quality standards.

Greet and marshal aircraft arriving, departing, and/or moving using standard aviation signals for communication.

Tow, move, park and secure aircraft arriving or departing ramp area.

Ensure aircraft are chocked, and secure.

Perform all work in a safe and timely manner.

Properly handle all parts, units, assemblies, and aircraft while operating on ramp.

Safely and correctly operate hangar doors, hangar lights, and night lights.

Notify administration and other appropriate team members of any condition that would compromise the airworthiness of aircraft and ramp safety.

Communicate with the next shift to ensure a smooth transition from shift to shift.

Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and staff meetings as assigned.

Help other employees and colleagues as needed/assigned.

Answer telephones and UNICOM when necessary as well as perform certain front desk operations occasionally. If you are hired for the night shift, this role doubles as front desk customer service representative.

Initiate emergency and incident response procedures as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

II. OPERATE GROUND SERVICE EQUIPMENT

Operate ground support equipment.

Operate tugs, trucks, and “follow me” vehicles according to airport and company procedures.

Operate GPUs and air conditioning equipment.

Drive rental cars, crew cars, and customer vehicles as necessary.

Locate and store tools, equipment, tow bars, rags, cords, hoses, cleaning supplies, waste, lubricants, grease, vacuum cleaners, garbage dumpsters, carpets, supplies, keys, clipboards, fans, and ladders in their designated spot.

Properly care for and use tools and ground service equipment for ramp operations.

Provide aircraft lavatory and potable water service.

Top off fuel trucks and fill out proper fuel farm paperwork.

Sump fuel trucks and tanks daily and record findings.

Perform periodic checks of equipment and notify administration of any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns with equipment.

Perform daily and monthly fuel truck and fuel farm quality and safety inspections.

III. CLIENT SERVICES

Greet pilots, passengers, crew members, and colleagues with enthusiasm and a smile.

Load/unload baggage/cargo.

Assist pilots with aircraft pre and post flight services.

Service aircraft by disposing of trash and placing water, ice, and catering on board if requested.

Anticipate the needs of flight crews and passengers.

Ensure the safety and basic security to passengers, people, and property on the ramp.

Escort/transport flight crews/passengers to and from ramp.

Communicate customer feedback with administration.

Provide premium customer service experience.

Handle customer requests and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.

Build relationships with transient customers and tenants that uphold company standards.

IV. FACILITY MAINTENANCE

Maintain a safe, clean, and secure ramp, hangar, and client area free of debris, animals, or other obstructions.

Properly dispose of waste fuels and oils.

Perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to facility cleaning, vehicle washing, aircraft cleaning and vacuuming.

Maintain a clean line room.

Wash, vacuum, and refuel vehicles.

Complete daily, weekly, and monthly hangar cleaning services to include but not limited to sweeping the hangar floor, pressure washing the hangar floor and empty outdoor trash bins as needed.

Perform various facility maintenance as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be flexible and willing to work any/all shifts: days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

High School Diploma or GED certificate.

Minimum age 18 years.

Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Pass background check.

Pass pre-employment drug test and random testing thereafter.

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions with aircraft noise, frequent walking, stretching, bending, sitting, stooping, reaching, grasping, and climbing.

Ability to work with fuels and other flammable and hazardous materials.

Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work in elevated areas without limitations.

Ability to frequently stand and walk for an entire 8-hour shift.

Ability to complete training requirements.

Ability to differentiate aircraft types as well as understand military time and phonetic alphabet preferred.

Aviation experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule flexibility.

Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and internet navigation.

Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required.

Ability to work under pressure.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physically and mentally demanding work environment with a high degree of confidentiality in a fast-paced environment, primarily outdoors with various aircraft noise and weather conditions. Knowledge and use of aviation equipment and computers is important. The Line Technician must be flexible when necessary to meet demands of unexpected changes. Weekends, from Friday evenings through Sunday afternoons, are extremely busy times. All staff meetings are mandatory.

DRUG AWARENESS POLICY

To maintain a safe environment for everyone, Skyborne has a no-tolerance policy for substance abuse. A Line Service Technician must be in top mental and physical condition when reporting to work. Skyborne will conduct periodic testing for illegal drugs without notice and does require a pre-employment drug test.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures, with high levels of humidity. Able to physically perform climbing, stooping, stretching, etc. operations related to the job and lift 50-75 pounds.

PRODUCTIVITY AND PERFORMANCE

Productivity and performance will be reviewed by administration and/or assigned supervisor initially 90 days after hire date and subsequently annually at hire date and assessed based on attendance, dependability, and reliability, care of equipment and company property, communication, basic computer and mathematical skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, initiative and creativity, job knowledge, quality of work/independence, safety record, and professional appearance.

Minimal.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/PAY/SALARY

This is a full-time or part-time assignment paid hourly. Line Service Technician pay is based on experience and qualifications. Salary may be offered for qualifying candidates.
