SkyGrid is Hiring a Senior System Engineer (High Integrity Systems IPT Lead) Near Austin, TX

SkyGrid, a Boeing, SparkCognition company, is powering the next generation of aviation. We are solving the industry’s biggest challenge integrating unmanned aircraft into complex, rapidly changing airspace. SkyGrid is defining a future where highly automated aircraft operate without the need for onboard pilots. We develop the safety-of-life approved flight operations management services for such aircraft to ensure operations of all participants in the air transportation system are safe and secure.

The SkyGrid team is looking for a Systems IPT Lead to be responsible for the development, integration, and testing of an avionic grade system, which hosts safety of human life functions for UAM (Urban Air Mobility) operations. This person will be the technical lead of a multidisciplinary team composed of system engineers, software engineers, V&V (Verification & Validation) engineers, and autonomy engineers. The Systems IPT Lead is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering the associated documentation and software according to the program plan. This person will coordinate team activities with the other IPT leads and report the progress to the System Engineering Manager and the Chief Engineer.

\nPerformance Objectives:
  • Release the system specifications for design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).
  • Update the High Integrity (HI) system design and architecture within System/Subsystem Design Description.
  • Support the gate maturation reviews as needed. 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the High Integrity (HI) system design to enable UAM flight monitoring and traffic surveillance per industry standards. 
  • Lead the development, decomposition, and tracking of High Integrity (HI) system requirements from initial design to final verification and validation. 
  • Lead the development, modeling, and documentation of the High Integrity (HI) system’s functional and physical architecture.
  • Lead the identification of the High Integrity (HI) system interfaces and support the integration of data service providers. 
  • Support the development and review of test plans and documentation ensuring that test execution will result in a successful requirement verification. 
  • Support component procurement and conduct system trade studies.
  • Support design reviews through the system development. 
  • Support technology maturation of advanced system functionality per industry standards. 
  • Responsible for the system HW/SW deliveries per the program plan. 
  • Provide executive status reports to leadership as required during weekly status check and monthly PMR's.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college. 
  • 10 years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry
  • 5 years of experience as a technical team lead with responsibilities over design, implementation, and qualification of complex avionic or terrestrial systems. Understands the UAM construct and is familiar with the concept of PSU functions and their role in the UAM implementation.
  • Experience working on certified aerospace programs with all phases of the SE (Systems Engineering) design process: ConOps, Requirements Development, Software / System Architecture, System Integration and Test, Verification, and Validation. 
  • Familiarity with ARP 4754A and be able to support System Safety reviews per ARP 4761. 
  • Understands the implication of DO178C and DO331 development process. 
  • Proven experience of system/software architectural design. 
  • Effective communication skills, self-driven, and capable of participating in senior leadership discussions.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices and requirement tools (e.g., Polarion).
  • Demonstrates mastery of system architecture concepts and understands the implications of choices down to the implementation level.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with network systems (e.g. client-server architecture). 
  • Familiarity with air operations and/or UAM/AAM operations and concepts. 
  • Advanced Engineering degree (Masters) from an accredited institution. 
  • Familiarity with MBSE tool (e.g. Cameo).
