The Role

Colossal Media is looking for a hardworking, adaptable person with great communication skills for our LA Shop location as a Pre Production Technician. This role will provide support in tasks relative to job preparation as well as assistance to our LA Shop Manager in the maintenance of the shop floor, trucks, lifts, and rigging equipment. Ideal candidates have work and/or life experience to back their ability to hustle, embrace challenges, problem-solve in high-stress situations, and excel in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the burning of patterns with a primary focus on efficiency, aiming to produce clean and legible patterns within established timelines
  • Maintain order and ensure the constant stocking of pattern rooms
  • Prepare artwork for mixing and job crews
  • Handle the packing and shipping of patterns and artwork for outer market jobs, maintaining close communication with Shop and Operations for timely coordination of shipments
  • Respond promptly to real-time requests from the paint crew
  • Accurately document daily work
  • Complete an introductory Drawing Workshop to acquire foundational skills in image breakdowns of Complex Graphic and Non-Organic artwork
  • Periodically join crews to provide assistance in pouncing patterns in the field
  • Responsible for initiating and concluding shop operations
  • Assist the Shop Manager in upholding cleanliness standards for shop storage, walls, and trucks
  • Assist with managing paint supply inventory and associated procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing related systems promptly and with attention to quality
  • Provide support to the Shop Manager in training new hires in fundamental shop skills as needed
  • Thoroughly document all undertaken tasks: Service logs, Daily progress updates, Inventory, and Shipping documents
  • Operate company vehicles to customer locations within the designated region
  • Represent Colossal in a confident and professional manner.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must complete OSHA 30hr course at the start of hire
  • Proficiency in working autonomously
  • Effective communication skills, both face-to-face and in digital environments
  • Demonstrated precision in manual dexterity and mastery of linework
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite and proficiency in Mac navigation
  • Adherence to Colossal safety protocols during job execution
  • Capability to operate on ladders and transport tools securely from vehicle to work site
  • Competence in safely operating tools and equipment for outdoor structure construction and maintenance
  • Understanding of Colossal, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines
  • Ability to work at elevated heights safely and proficiently
  • Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts to construction and operational duties

Preferred:

  • Prior experience utilizing Google-Suite and Slack platforms
  • Background in art and/or drawing
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design
  • Continued Education Course: Intro to Photoshop available
