SUMMARY
The Truck Hostler drives Class 4-8 straight truck chassis around the properties and other destinations as needed. The position will also assist with general assembly duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate with production management to determine tank and chassis needs
- Coordinate with shop staff to gain space to mount tanks
- Safely set and mount tanks on chassis for transport
- Move Trucks from one location to another.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and yard
- Assist warehouse with picking parts to go on trucks
- Assist production in assembling parts on trucks
- All other related duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES include, but are not limited to the following.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift and/or other assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and practice them.
- Must have good time management, planning, organization and prioritization skills.
- Must be able to work assigned shift, arriving on time and abiding by all attendance policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL
This position does not travel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Must have at least two years of work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required, including air brake endorsement and tanker endorsement. A clean driving record is required, minor infractions excluded.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop and reach and feel with hands and arms, use hands to operate vehicles and machinery. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and might occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, consisting of normal vehicle shop equipment and activities. Employee works inside a building that is not a climate-controlled environment. Employee is exposed to outside weather conditions while driving trucks and setting tanks.
