Job Summary:As a Sleep Technician at Sleep Centers of North Alabama, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. You will be responsible for conducting sleep studies, monitoring patients during sleep, and collecting data to assist in diagnosing sleep-related conditions. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to improving the overall health and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform overnight polysomnography (PSG) and home sleep apnea tests (HSAT) on patients, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Set up and calibrate sleep monitoring equipment, ensuring its proper functioning throughout the study.
  • Monitor patients during sleep studies, including but not limited to electroencephalography (EEG), electrooculography (EOG), electromyography (EMG), respiratory monitoring, and other relevant measurements.
  • Respond promptly to patient concerns and address any technical issues with equipment during sleep studies.
  • Document and record accurate observations and measurements during sleep studies.
  • Score sleep data and compile comprehensive reports for review by physicians and sleep specialists.
  • Assist in the maintenance, cleaning, and disinfection of sleep study equipment and rooms.
  • Educate patients on the purpose and procedures of sleep studies, ensuring their comfort and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients with sleep disorders.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and technology advancements in sleep medicine.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in polysomnographic technology (RPSGT) or sleep technology (CPSGT) is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience as a sleep technician or in a related healthcare role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sleep disorders, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options.
  • Proficiency in operating sleep monitoring equipment and computer software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work night shifts and maintain a flexible schedule as required.
  • Attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
