Advert SLR International Corporation is seeking a Project Geologist, Engineer or Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Working under the direction of professional engineers, geologists, project managers, and technical experts, the selected candidate will work on interesting site investigation and remediation projects throughout the Northeast and other US locations. The selected candidate may also have the opportunity to work on a variety of other types of projects, covering the full spectrum of SLR’s services. The selected candidate will work closely with technical experts, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration. In this full-time role, the successful candidate will be part of the Land Quality & Remediation technical service line.

Job DescriptionRequired Technical Skill and Experience
  • Bachelor’s and/or Masters degree in Geology, Hydrology or Environmental Sciences/Engineering required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in fieldwork tasks such as soil sampling, groundwater sampling, borehole logging, well installation, soil-vapor sampling, and soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
  • Skilled in preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge.
  • Understanding of soil and groundwater contamination assessment & remediation (e.g., methods, chemistry)
  • Ability to take direction and willingness to ask questions.

Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples.
  • Oversee and direct contractors conducting soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments to support property transactions.
  • Review State, Federal, and Local regulations for applicability to site cleanup.
  • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  • Perform periodic monitoring, operation, and maintenance on groundwater remediation, soil vapor extraction, sub-slab depressurization, and other types of remediation systems.
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, conceptual site models, and technical reports.
  • Work concurrently on multiple projects
  • Assist other SLR teams with work in a variety of disciplines including air monitoring, waste management, permitting, and compliance.
  • Work with clients from a variety of industries in various locations.
  • Travel to client facilities to support project efforts.
  • Participate in internal, client, and agency meetings.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
Compensation Range: The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $70,000.00 to $90,000.00. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
