Description

Carrier Process Equipment Group (CPEG) is a Louisville-based company with multiple businesses specializing in material handling and processing equipment. We are looking for the BEST employees in the industry to help us grow our business at Sly in Strongsville. 

We are currently hiring a Manager of Production Engineering. In this role, you will oversee and manage the CAD operations, systems, and resources. This role also involves ensuring efficient and accurate design processes, maintaining CAD software and hardware, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical support and guidance to the project engineering team. The Manager of Production Engineering plays a critical role in driving productivity, quality, and innovation within the company's design and engineering functions. 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 What you’ll do 

  • Lead, manage and be accountable for all production engineering staff including designers, BOM / document control and checker. The goals: Minimize problems and address by individual or departmental training | Motivate employees to strive for accuracy and completeness. | Maintain order and employee adherence to company policies, administer necessary discipline notices when warranted per issued Company guidelines. | Be alert for potential behavioral problem situations, personnel issues and address them or bring them up to management. | Monitor employee levels to maintain sufficient workforce. | Monitor individual and departmental performance and conduct annual reviews. | Maintain vacation scheduling and personal day calendars. 
  • Set and maintain drawing submittal and release dates as close to schedule as possible.
  • Be responsible for accuracy of approval and fabrication drawings by managing the drawing checking process and staff.
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvement and participate in project engineering and manufacturing cost reduction efforts. 
  • Forecast operating costs of department and direct preparation of budget requests while analyzing technology trends, human capital needs, and market demand to plan projects. 
  • Assist After Market Sales as needed with CAD support.
  • Provide communication to manufacturing facilities when needed. 
  • Participate/schedule required meetings and design reviews.
  • Initiate direct customer contact when needed.
  • Maintain departmental documentation as necessary.
  • Serve as primary contact/project lead for corporate initiatives (e.g. Continuous Improvement, Syspro, etc.).

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering or related experience/training.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to set and manage multiple priorities and initiatives across multiple teams, product groups and support groups to achieve short and long term goals.
  • Strong analytical and execution skills.
  • Self-accountability. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in PC operation and Inventor software. 
  • Ability to work with diagrams and plans, to develop schematics for products. 
  • Ability to reason mathematically with high speed and accuracy. 
  • Availability to occasionally travel to the company's plant in Mississippi.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field 
  • Thorough understanding of design and manufacturing process
