About the Office:

The Office of General Counsel (OGC), is the fast-paced legal team for the Small Business Administration (SBA), providing quality representation and legal advice on a wide range of highly visible national issues, including those associated with the Agency's historic $1 trillion economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic. SBA's OGC is a team of 110 attorneys covering legal issues arising from SBA's financial, procurement, counseling, technical assistance, and other programs and initiatives that assist America's small businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and thrive.

Job Description:

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of General Counsel in Washington, D.C. This position plays a key role by providing expert legal assistance to the Administrator and Agency personnel and is responsible for advising on questions of law or administrative policy involving ethics.

Duties:

Serves as Attorney Advisor in the Ethics office under the general supervision of the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and Designated Agency Ethics Official.

Provides legal advice and counsel on the Standard of Conduct and Hatch Act

Provides legal advice and counsel on all aspects of the Ethics Program

Prepares legal opinions, memoranda, reports and policy statements outlining and analyzing the actual and legal issues involved in an ethical matter.

Qualifications: 

 Applicants must possess a J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar in good standing in any state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The ideal candidate must have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, good interpersonal communication, computer, research, analytic and writing skills, the ability to present information clearly, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. The attorney must also be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Salary:

Current salary and years of experience will determine the appropriate salary level. The appropriate salary range for GS-14/15: $139,395 to $191,900/year. 

Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
