Smart Financial is Hiring a PT-30 Lending Operations Specialist - Westchase District Near Houston, TX

**This is a part-time position, scheduled at 30 hours per week**

The Lending Operations Specialist serves our internal and external member-owners with assistance related to loan maintenance, loan modification, account research, titles, and is responsible for the funding/closing of consumer loans. The Lending Operations Specialist is the go-to person for all front/back office & external owner loan servicing inquires. Collaborates with Credit Union Branches, and Credit Underwriters, with the loan application process to provide efficient quality services to member-owners. Ensuring each booked loan complies with applicable Federal and State laws, banking regulations, and Smart Financials’ policies and procedures.

  • Daily funding of consumer loan applications into the core data system (DNA). Validate member-owners information is exported accurately to core system and ensure Credit Underwriter’s conditions are met. Email DocuSign materials and closing documents to member-owners in a timely manner. Daily mailing of adverse action letters to applicants to meet compliance standards.
  • Post down payment to appropriate member-owner accounts, including general ledger postings of tax, title, and license fees required for lien perfection. Disburse checks for payments to external financial institutions, member-owners, and dealerships. Create ACH records in system to disburse funds to/from accounts of the authorized party.
  • Process title work related to collateralized loans to secure SFCU’s lien position. Authorize and process auto drafts submitted by dealers for payment after verification of lien is confirmed. Conduct reconciliation of auto draft and tax/title/license general ledger account monthly.
  • Monthly ancillary product (GAP, MBP, and DP) remittance report processing, reconciliation, claim processing, and cancellations. Verify receipt of funds for all sold products as well as verify active contracts for all funds received. Communicate with insurance companies on obtaining proper supporting documents to process/prepare letter of guarantees for total auto losses related to GAP claims.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on consumer loan services by aiding with general questions received from internal team members and member-owners. Process incoming cView requests in a timely fashion for items including but not limited to payment reversals, close line of credit; release of liens; waiving late fees; and loan research inquiries.

Experience:

A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

A high school degree or equivalent

Interpersonal Skills:

Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.

Physical Requirements:

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements:

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
