SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Oversees total patient care and works directly with other staff to assure provision of highest standards of care. 2. Compliance with the State of Nevada's Nurse Practice Act, Hospital policies and rules/regulations. 3. Ability to organize and prioritize work to maintain harmonious daily workflow. 4. Check, pour, administer and document medications at appropriate times. Monitors effects and side effects of medications. 5. Works with intravenous medications and administer all routes of medications per Nevada State Board of Nursing criteria. 6. Administers and records treatments as ordered. Monitors progress toward expected outcomes of treatments. 7. Admits, transfers and discharge patients as required. 8. Reports changes in condition, laboratory results, unexpected occurrences to the RN and the physician. 9. Accurate documentation, reporting and in-depth nursing observation to assure continuity of patient care. Every shift charting, summarizing and updating patient care plans as needed. 10. Daily evaluates patient care needs and condition changes, and implements changes in care delivery as warranted. Consults with the RN in implementing such changes. 11. Assures that Patient Rights are upheld. 12. Transcribes physician orders and communicates changes to other members of the team. 13. Assures that Labs, X-rays, etc., are completed and notifies attending physician of abnormal results. 14. Assists as necessary with patient care. 15. Maintains cleanliness and order on unit. 16. Participates in and satisfactorily complete the Orientation Program and Annual Review Days. 17. Attends inservices and meetings as required. 18. Pursues thirty (30) contact hours of continuous education, as required by the State of Nevada for re-licensure. 19. Reports deviations in quality of care to Supervisors as outlined by current nursing standards. 20. Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities. 21. Maintains working knowledge of hospital-wide order entry.
