Job Summary:
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) inspects welded products in a fabrication environment to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Duties include visual inspection of poles and structural steel assemblies, setting up and operating weld machines, and ensuring the quality of work by welders.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of welding experience, preferably with inspection experience.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings, especially weld symbols.
- Basic knowledge of ASIC and AWS national codes.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques desired.
- Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow directions.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols and meet quality standards.
- Interpret work instructions and confirm production details.
- Verify materials and welding equipment conform to specifications.
- Perform tests as per AWS D1.1 standards and record data.
- Detect and report defective materials.
- Research and develop new welding processes and equipment.
- Establish welding procedures and provide guidance to production personnel.
- Stay updated with welding field developments.
- Maintain a clean work area and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
