SMART is Hiring a FACILITIES PROJECT MANAGER Near Clinton, MI

General Summary
Under general supervision, the Facilities Project Manager supervises construction and maintenance projects relating to the Authority facilities. Responsibilities include development and preparation of specification criteria for use by consultants/vendors.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises consultant/vendor activities relating to the engineering and design of facility projects to ensure quality control and timely completion of projects.
  • Develops and prepares specifications for construction and maintenance projects. Provides guidance to consultants as necessary.
  • Inspects contractor efforts during construction, maintains progress records, approves payments, and makes recommendations for change orders.
  • Monitors and tracks budgeted and capital grant expenditures, ensuring that construction projects are within budget.
  • Participates in the selection of consultants, maintains records and prepares all correspondence related thereto.
  • Ensures Authority compliance with building codes and permits.
  • Participates in the evaluation of proposals.
  • Participates in pre-bid walk-through meetings
  • Maintains liaison between Maintenance and Procurement departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Architecture.
  • Two to three years experience managing facility construction projects.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
  • Ability to write specifications for construction/maintenance projects.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet applications.
